What does Metrifi need in order to implement a font on a website?

Are specific files required? Do you need a script?

Answer:

It depends on the font and foundry.

• If it's offered by Google Fonts, we just need the font name.
• If it’s a commercial font, many foundries offer the web font version. This can be done in a couple of ways, depending on the foundry
  • For fonts that provide an embed, you will need to provide the embed code, along with any documentation required by your licensing agreement
  • If no embed code is available, you will need to provide a zip file of the font and license.
  • When securing commercial fonts, you are responsible for making sure the font is correctly licensed.
• If, for some reason, it’s not available as a WebFont, we need the TTF or OTF files and a copy of the license granting explicit permission for web use. Once provided, we can generate a webfont from that.

Q: The font I want is only available through a subscription. Can MetriFi purchase the subscription for me?
A: No. In most cases, font subscriptions, such as Adobe Fonts, are licensed to the subscriber and cannot simply be purchased by MetriFi for use on a client’s website. The client must purchase and maintain the required subscription.

Q: Can MetriFi purchase non-subscription fonts on my behalf?
A: No. You are responsible for purchasing and maintaining the appropriate license for any fonts used on your website.

Q: Can I use fonts I find on “free” font websites?
A: It depends on the font’s license. Fonts offered through free font websites may be free only for personal use or may have restrictions on commercial or web use. Always review the license carefully before using a font on your website.

Q: What do I need to provide to embed a font from Adobe Fonts on my website?
A: Please provide the CSS embed code generated by Adobe Fonts. We will add that code to your website theme. Depending on Adobe’s current licensing requirements, you may also need to include licensing or attribution information. Please confirm the current requirements with Adobe.
